The Deputy Team Lead (DTL) assists the Team Lead (TL) with the day to day operations of the project, including administrative, financial and logistical activities. The DTL will also assist with proofreading and formatting project deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist MSI home office (HO) with hiring, training and supervision of local administrative and financial staff, maintaining the highest standards for financial accountability and accuracy.
  • Ensure that all field project operation activities are in compliance with MSI rules and regulations.
  • Build the capacity of and provide mentorship to field project operations staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with relevant employees and submit the results to the TL and HO for review and approval.
  • Be vigilant about any fraudulent activities and bring any suspected fraudulent behavior to HO's attention.
  • Oversee the review of expense reports submitted by field engineers and conduct periodic verifications of receipts.
  • Supervise cooks and cleaners and ensure the kitchen, office and expat residence are kept in a good hygienic condition.
  • Provide regular update to and liaise with the HO PM team on field project activities.
  • Track and ensure timely reporting on program deliverables.
  • Support the TL in supervising field engineers, ensuring that their reports and activities are conducted in a timely manner and meet all deadlines and contractual requirements.
  • Proofread and format monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • The DTL shall bring the following skills, education and experience to the project:
  • Must hold an undergraduate degree in business administration or a similar field. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of relevant experience with at least two years in conflict/post-conflict environment like Afghanistan.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication, analytic and interpersonal skills, and be fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Should be detail oriented and have a good trainer/mentor type personality.
  • Experience with MS Office applications.
