Project Summary: **
USAID is working to expand its programming to meet this objective to protect the interests of our global work at-large – and in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in particular – as it is fundamental to peace and security. As part of the Bureau of the Middle East efforts to continue, respond, and expand religious and ethnic minority (REM), the bureau is commissioning a Guide to Programming for the MENA region.
Position Summary:
MSI is looking for short-term technical assistance (STTA) Graphic Designer to develop the overall design and layout for a USAID Program Guide on Religious and Ethnic Minorities (REM) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The REM Program Guide will include guidance on how to develop and implement conflict-sensitive and complexity-aware monitoring and evaluation of REM interventions that seeks to preserve and increase the inclusion, safety, equal opportunity of REM in the MENA region. The Program Guide will be approximately 20 pages in length, with the primary audience being USAID staff and Implementing Partners. The graphic designer will be responsible for incorporating and integrating all relevant materials into the Program Guide and presenting them in a user-friendly format that is clear, concise, and a helpful resource for USAID staff and Implementing Partners. The anticipated timeline for the assignment is September 2020 – March 2021.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary graphic designer responsible for the overall design and development of the REM Program Guide for USAID
Work under the technical direction, management, and supervision of the Team Leader and in close coordination with the USAID Activity Manager
Conceptualize, design and develop the overall layout and format of the REM Program Guide
Synthesize relevant data/information into custom infographics, illustrations, maps and other relevant aesthetic elements in line with USAID and MSI's requirements and overall vision for the final product
Develop an initial concept/template for USAID's review/approval that best suits the purpose of the REM Program Guide
Address and incorporate all potential revisions/edits and feedback received from USAID and MSI to ensure the final product is in compliance with client's requirements and expectations
Participate in conference calls with MSI and USAID as required to review and discuss preliminary feedback, and all subsequent iterations during the development of the REM Program Guide, culminating in its final production
May also be required to participate in weekly check-in calls with the Team Leader and track progress and troubleshoot any potential issues/concerns
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required
A minimum eight years of experience with a strong portfolio in graphic design required
Experience working on USAID and/or other donor funded assignments and projects preferred
Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the client's needs and requirements
Familiarity with USAID branding preferred
Familiarity with the MENA region preferred
Ability to meet deadlines
Fluency in English with strong communication skills required
