Position Summary:**
The Technical Editor/Writer will be dedicated to one or more international development projects. He/she will mainly edit technical deliverables related to monitoring and evaluation. These reports are highly technical and the content is typically provided from several individuals, including non-native English writers. He/she will possess specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to allow them to use independent judgment in the performance of their duties and be capable of carrying out work with little guidance or supervision. This individual is a self-starter: bright, motivated and dynamic.
Responsibilities:
- Edit reports and other documents as required.
- Prioritize project work and provide quick turnaround.
- Review reports and correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure, as well as logical, technical, and narrative consistency.
- Identify and correct repetitious phrasing, technical and/or statistical inconsistencies, word choices that make passages ambiguous or unclear, and verbosity across different sections of lengthy documents.
- Provide feedback and communicate with subject matter experts regarding substantive edits.
- Improve editorial and visual standards for documents and recommend new formats and procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism or Communication.
- Exceptional and proven technical writing and editing skills.
- 5 years minimum in technical editing or writing.
- Experience with USAID terminology and monitoring and evaluation a plus
- Knowledge in advanced use of Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Keen eye for detail and accuracy
