Project Summary: **
In May 2015, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a five (5)-year contract to Management Systems International (MSI) to provide performance management support to USAID-sponsored development programs throughout Pakistan. The Performance Management Support Contract (PERFORM) serves as a centralized management support mechanism that provides services in (1) monitoring, (2) evaluation, (3) assessment, and (4) learning support. PERFORM provides data and information to help USAID/Pakistan project managers improve results through better implementation, design, and learning, enabling it to better target its programming and achieve its goals and objectives .

Position Summary:

MSI is recruiting a short-term data analyst to work as part of a team of local consultants to monitor the USAID/Pakistan Agricultural Market Development (AMD) Project.

The AMD Project supports the development of internal and external markets for a variety of Pakistan's agricultural products. These products include mangoes, citrus, high value and off-season vegetables, and livestock. AMD supports farmer groups and supply-chain businesses through grants to upgrade the quality of the agricultural products at all levels of the supply chain to make them more profitable and competitive in international markets. The project also has a gender component, aimed at increasing the participation of women in the agricultural sector. The project is being implemented across the provinces of Sindh and Punjab.

The duration of the assignment is April 2018 through September 2019.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in a team planning workshop in Islamabad to understand the monitoring purpose and methodology, data collection instruments, data collection plans, and data analysis plans.
• Assist in drafting data collection instruments, data collection plans and data analysis plan.
• Support document review and online research relevant to the project.
• Participate in meetings with implementing partners and USAID.
• Participate in key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and complete observation checklists, if required.
• Take comprehensive and high-quality notes during interviews and transcribe and translate notes in English in accordance with the required format, if required.
• Write minutes of the meetings wherever applicable and submit them to the assignment manager.
• Improve or amend translations/transcriptions in line with feedback provided by the team lead or assignment manager.
• Clean, code and analyze the data as per the instructions of the team lead or the assignment manager.
• Coordinate with the field researchers and keep track of their data collection activities.

• Participate in conducting spot-checks during data collection.

• Undertake other tasks as assigned by the assignment manager for the successful completion of the assignment.

Qualifications:

• At least a master's degree in a related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection, organization and analysis.
• Excellent MS Excel skills are required.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the country.
• Knowledge of Stata/SPSS or a statistical software package is necessary.
• Excellent analytical and personal communication skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
