Project Summary:
Obirodh: Road to Tolerance Program will provide support to activities aimed at fostering an inclusive and tolerant Bangladesh

Position Summary:
The chief of party (COP) is responsible for the management and administration of the project. In close coordination with USAID/Bangladesh's Democracy and Governance Team, the COP is responsible for providing oversight of grant activities, including supervising project staff, ensuring appropriate grant designs, ensuring that procedures are established, and compiled for grant development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and grant closing. The COP will provide the leadership for the project and directly interact with USAID, but also instill the necessary confidence in key personnel to directly brief and update USAID on project operations, performance, and research and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree (Master's or higher).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years in a management position in the development of programs related to development interventions in countering violent extremism (CVE), political transition, stabilization, conflict mitigation, advocacy, rule of law, or strengthening of civil society.
  • Previous experience managing US government or other donor-led projects.
  • Experience in oversight, monitoring and evaluation of grant activities.
  • Understanding of the financial and logistical procedures for managing a large activity with multiple small sub-awards.
  • Be willing to have close, daily collaboration with Obirodh's in-country staff and client.
  • Ability to develop and implement programmatic and strategic direction with USAID counterpart and MSI's home office team.
  • Be a “hands on” manager who is actively engaged in all aspects of program management.
  • Have demonstrated past representational experience with host governments, other donors, and civil society and demonstrated success with inter-agency coordination and joint programming ideally.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a large, diverse team.
  • Experience in the hiring and supervising of host country local personnel and ensuring, when need arises, that they secure necessary training required to meet program needs.
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting; financial management (tracking, reporting and accounting); and procurement.
  • Experience with activity design, development, and implementation.
  • Experience working in high threat security environments and leading politically sensitive activities.
  • Complete fluency in written and oral English is an essential qualification.
