Position Summary: **

MSI has an immediate opening for a mid-level business development (BD) manager. As a key member of the BD team, this person will help to identify opportunities, assess the contracting and competitive environment, and manage the company pipeline in close coordination with the director of business development and technical practice area leaders. This individual will also participate in outreach efforts to maintain a robust partnership network for proposal opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Research current trends and markets to help pinpoint strategic pursuits.
  • Support technical practice areas by conducting targeted research to help facilitate business development strategies.
  • Assess probable competition and evaluate relative strengths and threats; develop strategies to overcome weaknesses and mitigate risks.
  • Perform task and capabilities gap analysis to establish opportunity teaming needs and recommend team composition to maximize win probability.
  • Write proposal sections as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with other firms that can add value to MSI pursuits.
  • Serve as a point of contact for new partnerships.
  • Manage regular events introducing partners to MSI staff involved in proposals and facilitate introductions/meetings with key staff.
  • Work closely with director to design and implement new processes to ensure effective and efficient BDU operations.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training for MSI staff on BD efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in disciplines related to business management or international development preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with business development related activities, including market intelligence, teaming strategies, proposal development and recruitment.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude requiring little supervision; works well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to manage and participate in high-performing teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong creative thinker with business applications and operations. Demonstrated skill in business processes and creative problem solving.
  • Excellent oral, written and analysis skills required. Experience with proposal writing preferred.
  • Experience with business development for USAID activities highly desirable.
