Project Summary: **
The goal of the Regional Intergovernmental Organization (RIGO) System Strengthening Activity is to actualize a demonstrable, evidence based improvement in the institutional capacity of each RIGO and a significant, measurable increase in each RIGO's efficient, effective and sustainable organizational performance. RIGO System Strengthening will provide organizational strengthening assistance to the East African Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and selected sub-entities of those RIGOs.
Position Summary:
This position will provide the communication strategy for the project and the stakeholders it represents. This role will include managing all aspects of the communications related activities under the project. S/he will primarily focus on writing/editing content for web, briefing materials, publications, social media, and speeches. This position will be situated in Nairobi. Kenya.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the project's communication strategy within a multi-stakeholder framework and raise public awareness of the RIGO Working Groups.
- In collaboration with the three RIGOs, develop and implement communication campaigns for project activities.
- Develop and coordinate Technical Advisor publications.
- Prepare, review, and edit news releases, newsletters, web material, reports, and publications and ensure that they comply with USAID branding requirements.
- In collaboration with the RIGOs and project staff, organize press conferences (when appropriate and approved by the COP and USAID) and draft and review speeches and presentations.
- In collaboration with the RIGOs and beneficiary ministries, take and/or supervise the taking of pictures and videos of project activities with technical assistance, as needed.
- Draft project success stories for submission to the Chief of Party.
- Update and manage the project website and supervise the work of the webmaster.
- In collaboration with the RIGOs and project staff, participate in media interviews if approved by the COP.
- Coordinate the translation of documents in English, French or Arabic.
- Identify opportunities for dissemination of documents created by this regional program and overseas. Coordinate and manage archived project reports of activities, outreach material, digital photos, stakeholders, and beneficiaries, etc.
- Ensure that all project communications are in conformity with USAID branding requirements. Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist to gather data for performance monitoring reports and assist in writing reports when needed.
- Draft weekly, monthly, quarterly, and other reports as needed regarding project activities.
- Perform other related activities as requested by the COP.
Qualifications:
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in the Regional of East Africa in communications, journalism, media relations or a related field.
- Experience with writing press releases and success stories, development of scripts for radio and video spots and use of social media channels to reach the public preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related-field.
- Familiarity with foreign assistance and USAID's contributions to Kenyan society preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with internal and/or external parties including USAID and public institutions.
- Expert skills in Microsoft Word for report and document preparation. Skills in publication software preferred. Proven skills in PowerPoint and other presentation software.
- Experience working on donor-funded activities preferred.
- Business-level fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
- Kenyan nationals preferred.
