Project Summary: **

The purpose of AMELA is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical M&E knowledge and skills of USAID and Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID and Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

USAID and Afghanistan's Office of Economic Growth (OEG) has asked AMELA to conduct an evaluation of the GOLDOZI Activity. GOLDOZI assists women embroiderers diversify their product lines, improve marketing practices, and expand their businesses. Through this work, GOLDOZI aims to create jobs for 500 sales agents or Leader Entrepreneurs (LEs) that provide market information to Women Embroiderers (WEs) to empower them to reach Afghan and international markets. GOLDOZI seeks to improve the embroidery business while fostering the employment of 15,000 embroiderers, a majority of whom are disadvantaged women who live in and around Kabul and in another provinces.

Position Summary:

The GOLDOZI Researcher Assistant will play an important role in collecting data and assisting in analysis for the assessment report. The Research Assistant will report to the Chief of Party, Permanent Deputy Evaluation Lead, and the Team. This is a short-term position with an estimated level of effort of 35 days.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist evaluation managers in designing evaluation tools and translating them into local languages
  • Undertake key informant interviews and focus group discussions
  • Assist in translation tasks and note taking as needed
  • Provide technical analysis, and information to assist the assignment as required
  • Support the AMELA assignment team and USAID to establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
  • Facilitate and contribute to technical and coordination meetings, workshops, and other events
  • Participate in presentations and dissemination efforts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required
  • At minimum five years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience in project management, required
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation with comprehensive knowledge of the Afghan social and economic context, required
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting evaluations or research studies, required
  • General knowledge of development issues in Afghanistan, preferred
  • Fluency in written and oral English language skills, required
