Project Summary:
The purpose of AMELA is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services and assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan. AMELA aims to build the technical Monitor and Evaluation (M&E) knowledge and skills of USAID, Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID and Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

Position Summary:
The Driver will drive the AMELA soft skin vehicle to deliver persons and goods as required. The Driver will also be responsible for the vehicle's maintenance and safety, and keeping the vehicle fueled and cleaned. This is a full-time, Long Term Technical Assistance (LTTA) position.
NTA Scale: Grade G, Steps 1-5
Responsibilities:
- Provide transportation for AMELA staff
- Ensure speed limits and road rules are observed
- Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle's cleanliness, safety, and roadworthy condition
- Ensure that all passengers follow AMELA and USAID vehicle policy and procedures, such as, seat belts on, doors locked, and windows up
- Maintain the vehicle logbook showing details of all trips taken
- Ensure maintenance of safe fuel and oil levels
- Check the vehicle's radiator water level daily
- Ensure that the vehicle always has a fully stocked tool kit and first aid kit onboard
- Ensure that a spare tire, jack, and tire change equipment are always in good condition and onboard the vehicle
- Check the water level in the window washing dispenser daily
- Check the tire pressure on all 5 tires weekly
- Check the heating and air conditioning system weekly
- Help passengers to carry any items to and from the vehicle
- Additional relevant duties as prescribed by AMELA management
Qualifications:
- Middle school diploma required; high school diploma preferred
- At minimum two years previous experience working with an international organization or NGO
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to work
- Possession of a current Driver's License
- Fluency in Pashto and Dari required
- Fluency in oral and written English preferred
