Project Summary:
The purpose of AMELA is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical M&E knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

Position Summary:
MSI is currently seeking experienced translators under AMELA to support a variety of translation needs for multiple evaluations. The translators will work with the Evaluation Lead/Deputy Lead and AMELA Assignment Manager to translate transcripts from Pashto and Dari to English and vice versa. The period of the engagement under this short-term technical assistance (STTA) for translation needs will not exceed 90 calendar days; the number of days paid will vary based on each contract.
Responsibilities:
Translate AMELA project materials and other contents;
Ensure that the translation text is technically, linguistically and grammatically correct, error free;
Ensure that the text meets high quality standards and would not need further editing after completion of translation;
Ensure the translated content conveys the original meaning and tone
As needed, research technical terminology and phraseology pertinent to the assigned task to ensure capturing the intended meaning;
Professionally translate contents from from/to English, Pashto and Dari;
Provide accurate and timely translation to the satisfaction of AMELA management;
Meet stipulated deadlines in within each work order.
Qualifications:
2+ years of relevant experience in transcript and audio translation;
Bachelors degree in literature, sociology, economics, law, language, political science or other relevant field;
Experience working with USAID and/or other international donors preferred;
Exceptional written and oral Pashto, Dari, and English language skills required;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office;
