Project Summary:
Building Alliances for Local Advancement, Development and Investment – Capacity Building (BALADI CAP) is a 7+ year, USAID-funded program which aims to build the capacity of selected civil society organizations (CSOs) to manage and implement grants, foster increased citizen engagement with policy-makers and parliamentary committees, as well as support the continued development of 3 issue-based CSO advocacy networks and targeted advocacy initiatives on selected priority topics, in collaboration and partnership with selected local partners and governmental entities.

Position Summary:
MSI is seeking a part-time Senior Grant Writing Specialist to assist BALADI CAP team in developing CSO grants. The position will report directly to and work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Party, in close coordination and cooperation with relevant BALADI CAP staff and MSI's home office project management and contract personnel as directed. The duration of this position is expected to be up to three (3) months (September to November 2019) and will include drafting up to twelve (12) grants.
Scope of Work includes:
- Meet with grantees to better understand and develop their grant agreement (1-2 meetings per grantee);
- Design and develop each grant's proposal including narrative description, activities, sub-activities, timeline, deliverables, expected outputs and outcomes;
- Work with the program team to maintain compliance with the objectives set forth in each grant;
- Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner and meet deadlines;
- Liaise with BALADI CAP Senior Program Specialist, Senior M&E Specialist and Senior Grants Specialist to coordinate on technical narrative, budget narrative, and grant package requirements;
- Participate in bidders' conference, if needed.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in business management, law, or a related field with relevant professional qualifications.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of grant writing experience, USAID grant writing experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent writing skills and strong attention to details are required.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Excellent written and spoken English required.
