Capacity Building Manager – Organizational Development,
Increased Demand and Engagement for Accountability (IDEA) Activity, Sri Lanka
Proposal Summary:
Increased Demand and Engagement for Accountability (IDEA) is a 3-year USAID funded activity to strengthen the civil society sector with an emphasis on working in all regions of Sri Lanka. Its objective is to support CSO work on national and local governance issues and to build capacities of CSOs and networks.
Position Summary:
The Manager will be responsible for delivering on MSI's commitment to USAID under the capacity building component targeted at identified civil society organizations in Sri Lanka. The interventions will focus on institutional and programmatic capacity building and will include organizational development activities in the areas of administrative and financial systems, governance and leadership development, strategic planning, networking, media and communication strategies, and M&E, RBA and gender integration.

Responsibilities
Manages and facilitates delivery of capacity building component of the project
Coordinates and oversees STTA and sub-contractors supporting capacity development
Liaise with professional bodies, associations and institutions to develop standards, processes and best practices to promote accountability and sustainability
Arranges and coordinates other directly implemented trainings and workshops
Commissions, coordinates and evaluates the provision of the support, identified above that are provided through consultants and capacity building partners.
Ensures gender considerations are incorporated into all capacity building interventions.
Works with the IDEA M&E team to monitor and analyze progress and adjust capacity building programs as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related field.
- Five years' direct experience in capacity building or organizational development.
- Familiarity with different organizational development practices and tools.
- Familiarity with OCAT and other USAID capacity building tools
- A good understanding of the CSO types and operational context in Sri Lanka
- Knowledge of individuals and institutions in country that provide organizational development services and experience working with them.
- Fluency in English and one national language required; proficiency in a second national language desired; being trilingual a distinct advantage
- A good understanding of and commitment to gender and diversity considerations.
- Familiarity with social media and related innovations pertaining to CSO advocacy
- Experience in working on USAID funded projects and programs essential.
